Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the recommendation to give one’s prepared equipment to a fellow Muslim if unable to go on campaign.
Hadith 4730
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلامٍ الْجُمَحِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ فَتًى مِنْ أَسْلَمَ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْجِهَادَ وَلَيْسَ لِي مَا أَتَجَهَّزُ بِهِ ، قَالَ : " اذْهَبْ إِلَى فُلانٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ تَجَهَّزَ " ، فَقُلْ لَهُ : يُقْرِئُكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السَّلامَ ، وَيَقُولُ لَكَ : ادْفَعْ إِلَيَّ مَا تَجَهَّزْتَ بِهِ ، فَأَتَاهُ ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ لامْرَأَتِهِ : لا تُخْفِي مِنْهُ شَيْئًا ، فَوَاللَّهِ لا تُخْفِينَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا ، فَيُبَارَكَ لَكِ مِنْهُ .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from the tribe of Aslam said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I want to go for jihad, but I do not have the equipment for it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go to such-and-such Ansari, he has equipment; say to him that the Messenger of Allah sends you greetings of peace and instructs you to give your equipment to me. That man went to the Ansari, and the Ansari said to his wife: Do not hide anything from him. By Allah! If you try to hide anything from him, you will not find any blessing in it.
