Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On God’s favor upon two men from the same tribe or town when one of them goes out in God’s cause.
Hadith 4729
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا إِلَى بَنِي لِحْيَانَ ، فَقَالَ : " لِيُنْتَدَبْ مِنْ كُلِّ رَجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا ، وَالأَجْرُ بَيْنَهُمَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched an expedition towards Banu Lihyan, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Let one out of every two men set out; the reward will be divided between the two of them.
