Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the permissibility for women to accompany the army to provide water and treat the wounded.
Hadith 4723
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا الصَّلْتُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَغْزُو بِنَا مَعَهُ نِسْوَةٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، لِتَسْقِيَ الْمَاءَ ، وَتُدَاوِيَ الْجَرْحَى " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his mother, Sayyida Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) took along with him some Ansari women so that they could give water and treat the wounded.
