Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the permissibility for the leader to urge people to go out for battle at a specific time.
Hadith 4719
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى الْمَوْصِلِيُّ فِي كِتَابِ الْمَشَايخِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَسْمَاءَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جُوَيْرِيَةُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " نَادَى فِينَا مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ انْصَرَفَ عَنِ الأَحْزَابِ : أَلا لا يُصَلِّيَنَّ أَحَدٌ الظُّهْرَ إِلا فِي بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ ، فَتَخَوَّفَ نَاسٌ فَوْتَ الْوَقْتِ ، فَصَلَّوْا دُونَ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ ، وَقَالَ الآخَرُونَ : لا نُصَلِّي إِلا حَيْثُ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَإِنْ فَاتَنَا الْوَقْتُ ، قَالَ : فَمَا عَنَّفَ وَاحِدًا مِنَ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ " .
Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Ahzab, when we were returning, a proclaimer from the Prophet (peace be upon him) announced: Beware! No one should perform the Zuhr prayer before reaching the area of Banu Qurayza. Some people feared that the time for prayer would pass, so they performed the prayer before reaching Banu Qurayza. While some people said: We will not perform the prayer until we act upon what the Prophet (peace be upon him) has commanded us, even if the time for prayer passes. The narrator says, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not declare either of the two groups to be wrong.
