Asim bin Kulayb, on the authority of his father, narrates from his maternal uncle Sayyiduna Faltan bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him): We were present with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah Almighty began to send down revelation upon him. When revelation would descend upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), his eyes would remain open, his hearing would be attentive, and his mind would also be focused on that which was coming from Allah Almighty. The narrator states: They realized this state of his. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the scribe of revelation: Write this down: "Those among the believers who sit back (i.e., do not participate in jihad) are not equal." "And those who strive in the way of Allah." Then a blind man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is our fault? Revelation again began to descend upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so we said to this blind man: Revelation is being sent down upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The blind man feared that something concerning his matter might be revealed, so he remained standing and kept saying: I seek refuge from the displeasure of Allah's Messenger. The narrator says: Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the scribe: Write this also: "Except those who have no harm (i.e., disability)."
