Hadith 4710
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) left Makkah, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: These people have expelled their Prophet. Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we shall return. Surely, these people will be destroyed. Then this verse was revealed: "Permission [to fight] has been given to those against whom war is being waged because they have been wronged, and indeed Allah is capable of helping them." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Then I realized that this would soon happen. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: This was the first verse that was revealed regarding fighting.
