Chapter on Archery – On the permissibility of archery competitions even after sunset.
Hadith 4696
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا غَسَّانُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا " يُصَلُّونَ الْمَغْرِبَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ يَنْتَضِلُونَ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Those people used to perform the Maghrib prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and then after that they would hold archery competitions (that is, there would still be enough light left that archery competitions could be held).
