Chapter on Horses - On recommending the keeping of horses without mixed colors
Hadith 4677
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ النَّخَعِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَكْرَهُ الشِّكَالَ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : الشِّكَالُ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ الَّذِي كَرِهَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُوَ أَنْ تَكُونَ الدَّابَّةُ إِِحْدَى قَوَائِمِهَا بَيْضَاءَ وَالْبَاقِي عَلَى هَيْئَتِهَا .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked "shikal" among horses. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The "shikal" horse which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked is the one whose one leg is white and the rest are in their original (dark) color.
