Chapter on the Virtue of Martyrdom - On guaranteeing Paradise for one killed in battle even if he did not intend to fight
Hadith 4664
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : انْطَلَقَ حَارِثَةُ بْنُ عَمَّتِي نَظَّارًا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ مَا انْطَلَقَ لِقِتَالٍ ، فَأَصَابَهُ سَهْمٌ ، فَقَتَلَهُ ، فَجَاءَتْ عَمَّتِي أُمُّهُ إِِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، ابْنِي حَارِثَةُ إِِنْ يَكُنْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَصْبِرْ وَأَحْتَسِبْ ، وَإِِلا فَسَتَرَى مَا أَصْنَعُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أُمَّ حَارِثَةَ ، إِِنَّهَا جِنَانٌ كَثِيرَةٌ ، وَإِِنَّ حَارِثَةَ فِي الْفِرْدَوْسِ الأَعْلَى " .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: My maternal aunt’s son, Haritha, went on the day of the Battle of Badr to see what the situation of the battle was. He was struck by an arrow and died. My aunt, his mother, came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). She said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! If my son Haritha is in Paradise, then I will be patient and hope for reward, otherwise you will see what I do. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: O Umm Haritha! Paradise has many levels, and Haritha is in the highest Firdaus.
