Chapter on the Virtue of Martyrdom - On clarifying that the martyr intercedes for seventy of his family
Hadith 4660
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمُعَدَّلُ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُسَافِرٍ التِّنِّيسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ رَبَاحٍ الذِّمَارِيُّ ، عَنْ نِمْرَانَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ الذِّمَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ وَنَحْنُ أَيْتَامٌ صِغَارٌ ، فَمَسَحَتْ رُؤُوسَنَا ، وَقَالَتْ : أَبْشِرُوا يَا بَنِيَّ ، فَإِِنِّي أرجو أَنْ تَكُونُوا فِي شَفَاعَةِ أَبِيكُمْ ، فَإِِنِّي سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " الشَّهِيدُ يَشْفَعُ فِي سَبْعِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ " .
Numran bin Uqbah Zumari reports: We went to the service of Sayyida Umm Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with her) when we were orphans and young. She placed her hand on our heads and said: O my children, rejoice, for I hope that you will receive the intercession of your father. I heard Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “The martyr will intercede for seventy people from his household.”
