Hadith 4654
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانَ الطَّائِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِِنْ قُتِلْتُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ صَابِرًا مُحْتَسِبًا مُقْبِلا غَيْرَ مُدْبِرٍ ، يُكَفِّرُ اللَّهُ عَنِّي خَطَايَايَ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَعَمْ " . فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ نَادَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَوْ أَمَرَ بِهِ فَنُودِيَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَيْفَ قُلْتَ ؟ " فَأَعَادَ قَوْلَهُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَعَمْ ، إِِلا الدِّينَ ، كَذَلِكَ قَالَ لِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ " .
Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah narrates from his father: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! What is your opinion if I, being patient and hoping for reward, face the enemy without turning my back and am killed during jihad in the way of Allah, will Allah forgive my sins? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Yes. When he turned to leave, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) called him back or ordered him to be called. When he was called back, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked: What did you say? He repeated his statement, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Yes, but the matter of debt is different (i.e., its reckoning will have to be done). Jibreel has informed me of this in the same way.
