Sa’sa’ah bin Mu’awiyah narrates: At the place of “Rabadha,” I met Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him). He had brought his camels (to the water) and was giving them water. Then he moved towards his mount; he had hung a water skin around the neck of his mount so that he could drink from it. He first gave water to his companions. This was included in the traditions of the Arabs. I said, “O Abu Dharr, what is your wealth?” He replied, “My wealth is my deeds.” I said, “O Abu Dharr, what did you hear the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say?” He replied, “I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘Whoever spends a pair from his wealth in the way of Allah, the gatekeepers of Paradise rush towards him.’” I asked, “O Abu Dharr, what is meant by a pair?” He replied, “If it is slaves, then two slaves; if it is horses, then two horses; if it is camels, then two camels (spent in the way of Allah),” until he counted all types of wealth. I said, “O Abu Dharr! (Please narrate) more (hadith).” So he said, “I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘If three children of any two Muslims (i.e., a Muslim husband and wife) die, Allah, due to His mercy and grace upon those (children), will admit both of them (the husband and wife) into Paradise.’”
