Hadith 4617
Abu Bakr bin Abdullah bin Qais narrates: I heard my father (Sayyiduna Musa Ash’ari, may Allah be pleased with him) saying this while he was near the enemy’s fortress (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) or facing the enemy. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, Paradise is under the shade of swords.” (The narrator says) Then a man stood up whose condition was not very good. He said: O Sayyiduna Abu Musa! Did you yourself hear the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say this? Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Yes. The narrator says: Then that man went to his companions and said: Peace be upon you all from me. Then that man broke the sheath of his sword and put it aside, then he advanced with his sword and fought until he was martyred.
