Chapter on the Virtue of Jihad - On clarifying that the best jihad is free from betrayal
Hadith 4597
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ الضَّرِيرُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ هُوَ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْضَلُ الأَعْمَالِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ إِِيمَانٌ لا شَكَّ فِيهِ ، وَغَزْوٌ لا غُلُولَ فِيهِ ، وَحَجٌّ مَبْرُورٌ " . قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : حَجَّةٌ مَبْرُورَةٌ تُكَفِّرُ الْخَطَايَا سَنَةً . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ هَذَا هُوَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The best deed in the sight of Allah Almighty is such faith in which there is no doubt, and such jihad in which there is no dishonesty, and an accepted Hajj." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: An accepted Hajj wipes out the sins of a whole year. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Abu Ja'far is Imam Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn bin Ali bin Abi Talib (that is, Imam Muhammad al-Baqir).
