Hadith 4594
أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ بِدِمَشْقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلامٍ ، قَالَ : جَلَسْتُ فِي نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَيُّكُمْ يَأْتِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَسْأَلَهُ : أَيُّ الأَعْمَالِ أَحَبُّ إِِلَى اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : فَهِبْنَا أَنْ يَسْأَلَهُ مِنَّا أَحَدٌ ، قَالَ : فَأَرْسَلَ إِِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُفْرِدُنا رَجُلا رَجُلا ، يَتَخَطَّى غَيْرَنَا ، فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعْنَا عِنْدَهُ أَوْمَأَ بَعْضُنَا إِِلَى بَعْضٍ لأَيِّ شَيْءٍ أَرْسَلَ إِِلَيْنَا ؟ فَفَزِعْنَا أَنْ يَكُونَ نَزَلَ فِينَا ، قَالَ : " فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لِمَ تَقُولُونَ مَا لا تَفْعَلُون سورة الصف آية 1 - 2 َ " . قَالَ : فَقَرَأَ مِنْ فَاتِحَتِهَا إِِلَى خَاتِمَتِهَا ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ يَحْيَى مِنْ فَاتِحَتِها إِِلَى خَاتِمَتِهَا ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ الأَوْزَاعِيُّ مِنْ فَاتِحَتِهَا إِِلَى خَاتِمَتِهَا ، وَقَرَأَهَا الْوَلِيدُ مِنْ فَاتِحَتِهَا إِِلَى خَاتِمَتِهَا .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was sitting among some of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I said: Who among you will go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and ask him which deed is most beloved to Allah Almighty? The narrator says: We became apprehensive about any one of us asking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called us one by one; he called only us, and we gathered in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then one of us gestured to another and asked: Why has the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called us? We feared that perhaps (some command of the Qur'an) had been revealed about us. The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse before us: "Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies Allah, and He is the Mighty, the Wise. O you who believe! Why do you say what you do not do?" The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this Surah from the beginning to the end before us. (The narrator says) Then the narrator named Yahya, while narrating this tradition, also recited this Surah from the beginning to the end. Then the narrator named Awza'i also recited this Surah from the beginning to the end. Then the narrator named Walid also recited this Surah from the beginning to the end.
