Hadith 4572
Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked towards the sky, then he (peace be upon him) said: "This is the time when knowledge will be taken away." Among the Ansar, there was a man named Lubaid bin Ziyad who said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Will knowledge be taken away while it has been established and hearts have preserved it?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I consider you the most intelligent person among the people of Madinah." (The narrator says) Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned the Christians and Jews, how they went astray despite having the Book of Allah. The narrator says: Then I met Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) and I narrated to him the hadith transmitted by Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said: "Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) has narrated correctly." Then he said: "Shall I not tell you which knowledge will be taken away first?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Taqwa (piety), until you will not see any pious person."
