Hadith 4562
Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Obey (the ruler of the time) in hardship and ease, in what you like and dislike, and even if he gives preference to others over you (in all circumstances, obey him); if he takes your wealth and strikes your back (still obey him), except if he commands something sinful, then do not obey him in that."

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying this: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon to us while riding his she-camel Jad‘a on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O people! Then a man from behind the people asked: What is the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, what does he mean? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Do you not hear? Obey your Lord, perform the five prayers, pay the zakat of your wealth, obey your rulers, and enter the Paradise of your Lord. The narrator says: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him): How old were you when you heard this? He replied: At that time I was thirty years old.
