Chapter on Allegiance to Leaders and What Is Recommended for Them - On another report confirming what was mentioned
Hadith 4549
أَخْبَرَنَا السَّامِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْمَقَابِرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا نُبَايعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ ، يَقُولُ لَنَا : " فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We pledged allegiance to the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) on his blessed hand for obedience and submission, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to us: As much as you are able (you will act upon it).
