Hadith 4542
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، أَنّ " رَجُلا مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ أَعْتَقَ سِتَّةَ أَعْبُدٍ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ ، لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُمْ ، قَالَ : فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ قَوْلا شَدِيدًا ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ دَعَا بِهِمْ فَجَزَّأَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ ، وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً " .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from among the Ansar, when near death, freed six slaves. That man had no wealth other than those slaves. This matter was reported to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) expressed severe displeasure regarding it. The narrator states: Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) called for them, divided them into shares, drew lots among them, freed two, and kept four as slaves.
