Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He participated in a military expedition towards Najd along with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). One day, during the time of midday rest, they reached a valley where there were many trees. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) camped there. People spread out here and there to take shade under different trees. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also rested under a tree and hung his sword on that tree. (Later) the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) informed about a person who was present near him, that this person drew a sword upon me while I was asleep. When I woke up, the sword was in his hand. He asked me: Who will save you from me? I replied: Allah, the Exalted. He asked again: Who will save you from me? I replied: Allah, the Exalted. So the sword fell from his hand and he sat down. Now he is sitting (here). (The narrator says) The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not punish him.
