Hadith 4531
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : ذَهَبْتُ بِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ حِينَ وُلِدَ إِِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي عَبَاءَةٍ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَهْنَأُ بَعِيرًا لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " هَلْ مَعَكَ تَمْرٌ ؟ " فَقُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، فَنَاوَلْتُهُ تَمَرَاتٍ ، فَأَلْقَاهُنَّ فِي فِيهِ فَلاكَهُنَّ ، ثُمَّ فَغَرَفَا الصَّبِيِّ فَمَجَّهُ فِي فِيهِ ، فَجَعَلَ الصَّبِيُّ يَتَلَمَّظُهُ . قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " حِبُّ الأَنْصَارِ التَّمْرُ " . وَسَمَّاهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I took the newborn son of Sayyiduna Abu Talhah Al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), wrapped in a cloth, to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of his birth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was marking the (charity) camels at that time. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Do you have any dates? I replied: Yes. I presented some dates to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put them in his mouth, chewed them, and then put them into the mouth of the child. The child began to suck on it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Ansar love dates. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named the child Abdullah.
