Chapter on Caliphate and Leadership - On the obligation of Hellfire for those who take charge of Muslim affairs and misuse their wealth
Hadith 4512
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ سَنُوطَا ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتَ قَيْسِ بْنِ قَهْدٍ ، تَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِِنَّ الدُّنْيَا حُلْوَةٌ خَضِرَةٌ ، فَمَنْ أَخَذَهَا بِحَقِّهَا بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهَا ، وَرُبَّ مُتَخَوِّضٍ فِي مَالِ اللَّهِ وَمَالِ رَسُولِهِ لَهُ النَّارُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Sayyidah Khawlah bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, the world is sweet and green; whoever acquires it along with its due right, there is blessing in it for him. And sometimes a person acquires the wealth of Allah and His Messenger, and for him on the Day of Resurrection it will be Hell."
