Ibn Hibban

Asim bin Laqit bin Sabirah narrates from his father: I was included in the delegation of Banu Muntafiq. We were sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) when, during this, a shepherd lifted a goat and took it towards the pen; it was making sounds. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) inquired: What has it given birth to? The shepherd replied: It has given birth to a kid. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Slaughter another goat in its place. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Do not think that we have slaughtered it because of you. (The narrator states: Here the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) pronounced the word with a kasrah, not a fathah.) (The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:) We have one hundred goats; when any one goat gives birth, we slaughter a goat in its place. The narrator states: I submitted: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! There is some defect in my wife's tongue, meaning she displays bad language. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Divorce her. He submitted: I have a long companionship with her, and I have children from her. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Advise her verbally and admonish her; perhaps she will understand. Do not beat your wife as you beat your camel. The narrator says: I submitted: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Tell me about ablution. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: When you perform ablution, do it well, and pass your fingers between each other, and rinse your nose thoroughly, except if you are fasting (then do not exaggerate).
