Hadith 4497
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْبَرْقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ مُسَافِرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ ، أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ ، أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ فِي الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَتْ تَنْطَلِقُ ، فَقَامَ مَعَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْلِبُهَا ، حَتَّى إِِذَا بَلَغَ قَرِيبًا مِنْ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ عِنْدَ بَابِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَرَّ بِهِ رَجُلانِ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، فَسَلَّمَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ بُعْدًا ، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا ، إِِنَّمَا هِيَ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ " . فَقَالا : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَكَبُرَ عَلَيْهِمَا ذَلِكَ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَبْلُغُ مِنَ الإِِنْسَانِ مَبْلَغَ الدَّمِ ، وَإِِنِّي خِفْتُ أَنْ يَقْذِفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَيْئًا " .
Imam Zain al-Abidin narrates: The noble wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Lady Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), informed him that once she came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) while he was observing i'tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan. When Lady Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) stood up to leave, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also stood up with her to see her off. When he (peace be upon him) reached near the door of the mosque—the door that was close to the door of Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her)—two men from the Ansar passed by. Both of them greeted the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with salam and then moved aside. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to both of them, "Wait, this is Safiyyah bint Huyayy (who is my wife)." Both of them said, "Glory be to Allah, O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! (Could we ever think such a thing about you?)" This was very hard for both of them. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Satan circulates in the veins of man. I feared that he might cast some evil thought into your hearts."
