Sayyiduna Imam Zain al-Abidin (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: The noble wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her), told me this: I came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and remained with him for some time, conversing. At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was observing i'tikaf in the mosque. At night, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up with me to escort me to my house. On the way, two men from the Ansar met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When they saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they felt shy and turned back. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come forward, both of you. This is Safiyyah bint Huyayy (who is my wife)." Both of them said: "We seek refuge with Allah and declare Allah's purity (how could we think ill of you, O Messenger of Allah)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am not saying that you have thought anything bad, but I know that Satan circulates in the veins of man (he could have put a wrong thought in your minds)."
