Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Some people from the tribe of ‘Ukl (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) or ‘Uraynah came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). They discussed Islam (that is, they accepted Islam). They said: O Messenger of Allah! We are people who raise livestock; we are not farmers. The climate of Madinah did not suit them, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to go to the camels and the shepherd. He instructed them to go and drink the urine and milk of those camels. They went until they reached the outskirts of the rocky area. There, after accepting Islam, they reverted to disbelief, killed the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) shepherd, and drove away the camels. When this news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he sent a detachment after them. They were captured and brought back; their eyes were branded with hot irons, their hands and feet were cut off, and then they were thrown on the edge of the rocky land until they died in that state.
