Chapter on Highway Robbery – Clarification that the ‘Uraniyyin became disbelievers after their actions
Hadith 4471
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْمَقَابِرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَدِمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَفَرٌ مِنْ عُرَيْنَةَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ : لَوْ خَرَجْتُمْ إِِلَى ذَوْدِنَا فَكُنْتُمْ فِيهَا فَشَرِبْتُمْ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا وَأَبْوَالِهَا . فَفَعَلُوا " فَلَمَّا صَحُّوا قَامُوا إِِلَى رَاعِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَتَلُوهُ ، وَرَجَعُوا كُفَّارًا ، وَاسْتَاقُوا ذَوْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي طَلَبِهِمْ ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِمْ ، فَقَطَعَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَأَرْجُلَهُمْ ، وَسَمَّلَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, some people from the tribe of ‘Uraynah came to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: Go to our camels and stay there, and drink their milk and urine (that will be suitable for you). They did so, and when they became healthy, they went to the shepherd of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), killed him, became disbelievers again, and drove away the camels of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a party in pursuit of them, they were captured and brought back. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that their hands and feet be cut off and their eyes be branded with heated iron rods.
