Chapter on Adultery – Obligation to flog a slave woman for adultery, even if she repeats it
Hadith 4444
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَزَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الأَمَةِ إِِذَا زَنَتْ وَلَمْ تُحْصَنْ ، فَقَالَ : " إِِذَا زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ، ثُمَّ إِِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ، ثُمَّ إِِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ، ثُمَّ بِيعُوهَا وَلَوْ بِضَفِيرٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Zaid bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a slave woman who commits adultery and is not married. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If she commits adultery, then flog her. Then if she commits adultery, flog her. Then if she commits adultery, flog her. Then sell her, even if it is for a rope.
