Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Ma'iz Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I have committed adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him. Then he came from another side to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I have committed adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) four times, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned. When stones struck him, he ran away. People mentioned his running away to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that when stones struck him (he ran away), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Why did you not leave him?
