Chapter on Adultery – Report refuting the claim that People of the Book cannot be considered married
Hadith 4432
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " رَجَمَ يَهُودِيَّيْنِ قَدْ أُحْصِنَا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had two married Jews (a man and a woman) stoned to death.
Hadith 4433
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " رَجَمَ يَهُودِيًّا وَيَهُودِيَّةً " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had a Jewish man and a Jewish woman stoned to death.
