Chapter on Adultery – Report on the ruling for virgin and non-virgin adulterers
Hadith 4425
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ بِبُسْتَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ حِطَّانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقَاشِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خُذُوا عَنِّي ، خُذُوا عَنِّي ، قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلا ، الثَّيِّبُ بِالثَّيِّبِ جَلْدُ مِائَةٍ وَالرَّجْمُ ، وَالْبِكْرُ بِالْبِكْرِ جَلْدُ مِائَةٍ وَنَفْيُ سَنَةٍ " .
Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take the rulings from me, take the rulings from me. Allah Almighty has set a way for these women (i.e., has clarified their ruling). If a married person commits adultery with a married person, he should be given one hundred lashes and stoned to death. If an unmarried man commits adultery with an unmarried woman, he should be given one hundred lashes and exiled for one year."
