Chapter on Adultery – Description of the adultery of the eyes and tongue
Hadith 4420
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ يَعْنِي عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا أَشْبَهُ بِاللَّمَمِ مما قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَى ابْنِ آدَمَ حَظَّهُ مِنَ الزِّنَى ، أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ لا مَحَالَةَ : فَزِنَى الْعَيْنُ النَّظَرُ ، وَزِنَى اللِّسَانِ النُّطْقُ ، وَالنَّفْسُ تَتَمَنَّى ذَلِكَ وَتَشْتَهِي ، وَيُصَدِّقُ ذَلِكَ الْفَرْجُ أَوْ يُكَذِّبُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I have not seen anything that resembles sin more than what Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) has narrated, that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has written the share of adultery for the son of Adam, which he will inevitably reach. So the adultery of the eye is looking, the adultery of the tongue is speaking, and the soul desires and wishes, and the private part either confirms it or denies it."
