Chapter on Adultery – Denial of faith for the adulterer
Hadith 4412
أَخْبَرَنَا الصُّوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ، وَلا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ، وَلا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ، وَالتَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A thief, while stealing, does not remain a believer; an adulterer, while committing adultery, does not remain a believer; one who drinks alcohol, while drinking it, does not remain a believer. (However) after this, there is room for repentance."
