Chapter on Adultery – Deserving Allah’s punishment when adultery and usury spread
Hadith 4410
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا ظَهْرَ فِي قَوْمٍ الزِّنَى وَالرِّبَا ، إِِلا أَحَلُوا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ عِقَابَ اللَّهِ جَلا وَعَلا " .
Abdur Rahman bin Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When adultery and usury become widespread among a people, they make Allah's punishment lawful for themselves."
