Report on the virtue of just rulers establishing legal punishments
Hadith 4397
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِقَامَةُ حَدٍّ بِأَرْضٍ ، خَيْرٌ لأَهْلِهَا مِنْ مَطَرِ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحًا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Establishing the prescribed punishment in any land is better for its inhabitants than forty days of continuous rain."
