Another narration confirming what was indicated
Hadith 4374
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا شَهِدْتُ مِنْ حِلْفِ قُرَيْشٍ إِِلا حِلْفَ الْمُطَيَّبِينَ ، وَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي حُمْرَ النَّعَمِ ، وَإِِنِّي كُنْتُ نَقَضَتْهُ " . قَالَ : وَالْمُطَيِّبُونَ : هَاشِمٌ ، وَأُمَيَّةُ ، وَزَهْرَةُ ، وَمَخْزُومٌ . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : أَضْمَرَ فِي هَذَيْنِ الْخَبَرَيْنِ مَنْ يُرِيدُ بِهِ : شَهِدْتُ مِنْ حِلْفِ الْمُطَيَّبِينَ ، لأَنَّهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَشْهَدْ حِلْفَ الْمُطَيَّبِينَ ، لأَنَّ حِلْفَ الْمُطَيَّبِينَ كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْلِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَإِِنَّمَا شَهِدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِلْفَ الْفُضُولِ ، وَهُمْ مِنَ الْمُطَيَّبِينَ ، قَدْ ذَكَرْتُ الْكَلامَ عَلَى هَذَا الْخَبَرِ بِتَفْصِيلٍ فِي كِتَابِ : التَّوْرِيثُ وَالْحُجُبِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I did not participate in any pact of the Quraysh except the pact of 'Mutayyibeen', and I do not wish to break this pact even if I were to be given red camels in exchange for it." (The narrator states:) By 'Mutayyibeen' is meant Banu Hashim, Banu Umayyah, Banu Zuhrah, and Banu Makhzum. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In both narrations, it is mentioned that I participated in the pact of 'Mutayyibeen', whereas the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not participate in the pact of 'Mutayyibeen' because the pact of 'Mutayyibeen' took place before the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) participated in the pact of 'Hilf al-Fudul', and this too took place among the 'Mutayyibeen'.
