ذكر البيان بأن المرء منهي عن أن يحلف بشيء غير الله تعالى-
Clarification that one is forbidden to swear by anything other than Allah
Hadith 4359
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَدْرَكَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ وَهُوَ يَحْلِفُ بِأَبِيهِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِِنَّ اللَّهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ ، فَمَنْ كَانَ حَالِفًا فَلْيَحْلِفْ بِاللَّهِ ، أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) swearing an oath by his father's name, so he said: Indeed, Allah Almighty has forbidden you from swearing by your forefathers' names. Whoever has to swear an oath should swear by the name of Allah, otherwise he should remain silent.
