Report indicating that when swearing, one should add “if Allah wills”
Hadith 4337
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " حَلَفَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ لَيَطُوفَنَّ عَلَى مِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ ، كُلُّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ تَحْمِلُ غُلامًا يُجَاهِدُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : فَلَمْ تَحْمِلْ مِنْهُنَّ إِِلا امْرَأَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ نِصْفَ غُلامٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَوْ قَالَ : إِِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، كَانَ كَمَا قَالَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sayyiduna Sulaiman bin Dawood (peace be upon them) took an oath that he would go to his one hundred wives, and each woman among them would give birth to a boy who would fight in the way of Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: But only one woman gave birth to an incomplete child. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If he had said 'InshaAllah' at that time, it would have happened as he had stated."
