Chapter: Maintenance – Permitting a man to take from his child’s wealth as needed without permission
Hadith 4259
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ فِي حُجْرِ عَمَّةٍ لِي ابْنٌ لَهَا يَتِيمٌ وَكَانَ يَكْسِبُ ، فَكَانَتْ تَحْرَجُ أَنْ تَأْكُلَ مِنْ كَسْبِهِ ، فَسَأَلَتْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ عَائِشَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِنَّ أَطْيَبَ مَا أَكَلَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ كَسْبِهِ ، وَإِِنَّ وَلَدَ الرَّجُلِ مِنْ كَسْبِهِ " .
Amarah bin Umair narrates: My paternal aunt had an orphan child under her care. That child used to earn (by working), but the woman considered it a sin to eat anything from his earnings. She asked Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about this. So Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) informed: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: The purest thing is that which a person eats from his own earnings, and a man's children are a part of his earnings.
