Recommending honoring one’s wet nurse
Hadith 4232
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ مَخْلَدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ ثَوْبَانَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الطُّفَيْلِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ بِالْجِعْرَانَةَ يَقْسِمُ لَحْمًا ، وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ غُلامٌ أَحْمِلُ عُضْوَ الْبَعِيرِ ، قَالَ : " فَأَقْبَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ بَدَوِيَّةٌ ، فَلَمَّا دَنَتْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَسَطَ لَهَا رِدَاءَهُ ، فَجَلَسَتْ عَلَيْهِ ، فَسَأَلْتُ : مَنْ هَذِهِ ؟ قَالُوا : أُمُّهُ الَّتِي أَرْضَعَتْهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was distributing meat at the place of Ja‘ranah. At that time, I was a boy and I was carrying a part of a camel. A Bedouin woman came; when she approached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he spread his cloak for her. The woman sat on it. I asked: Who is she? The people informed me: She is the foster mother of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
