Chapter: Division of time – The Prophet’s (peace be upon him) fairness in dividing time among his wives
Hadith 4205
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْسِمُ بَيْنَ نِسَائِهِ فَيَعْدِلُ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا فِعْلِي فِيمَا أَمْلِكُ ، فَلا تَلُمْنِي فِيمَا لا أَمْلِكُ " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to divide (his time) among his wives with regard to days, and then he would say: O Allah! This is my action regarding which I have control, so do not blame me for that over which I have no control.
