Chapter: Nursing during pregnancy – Permitting a woman to breastfeed and her husband to have intercourse with her
Hadith 4196
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، عَنْ جُذَامَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ الأَسَدِيَّةِ ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَنْهَى عَنِ الْغِيلَةِ حَتَّى ذَكَرْتُ أَنَّ الرُّومَ ، وَفَارِسَ يَصْنَعُونَ ذَلِكَ ، فَلا يَضُرُّ أَوْلادَهُمْ " ، قَالَ مَالِكٌ : وَالْغِيلَةُ : أَنْ يَمَسَّ الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ تُرْضِعُ .
Sayyida Jazamah bint Wahb Asadiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: She heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "At first, I intended to prohibit intercourse with a nursing woman, but then I thought that the people of Rome and Persia also do so, and it does not harm their children." Imam Malik explains: Gheelah means that a man has intercourse with his wife while she is nursing a child.
