Chapter: Marital relations – Forbidding seeking out the faults or betrayals of one’s family
Hadith 4182
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَطْرُقَ الْمَرْءُ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلا ، أَوْ يُخَوِّنَهُمْ وَيَلْتَمِسَ عَثَرَاتِهِمْ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade that (after a long absence on a journey) a person should go to his wife at night, or seek to find out his wife's betrayal (i.e., spy on her), or search into her hidden matters.
