Chapter: Marital relations – Recommending that a man eat and drink with his family, not isolating himself
Hadith 4181
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " إِنْ كُنْتُ لآتِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالإِنَاءِ ، فَآخُذُهُ فَأَشْرَبُ مِنْهُ ، فَيَأْخُذُهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَضَعُ فَاهُ مَوْضِعَ فِيَّ ، وَإِنْ كُنْتُ لآخُذُ الْعَرْقَ مِنَ اللَّحْمِ فَآكُلُهُ ، فَيَأْخُذُهُ ، فَيَضَعُ فَاهُ مَوْضِعَ فِيَّ ، فَيَأْكُلُهُ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sometimes I would bring a vessel to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). I would drink from that vessel first, then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would take that vessel and place his mouth at the spot where I had placed my mouth. Sometimes I would take a bone with some meat on it and eat from it, then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would take that bone and place his mouth at the spot where I had placed my mouth, and he would eat from it, even though I was in a state of menstruation at that time.
