Chapter: Marrying non-Muslims – Another narration confirming our view
Hadith 4158
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : أَسْلَمَ غَيْلانُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الثَّقَفِيُّ وَعِنْدَهُ عَشْرُ نِسْوَةٍ ، فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْ يَتَخَيَّرَ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا ، وَيَتْرُكَ سَائِرَهُنَّ " .
Salim narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both): When Sayyiduna Ghailan bin Thaqafi, may Allah be pleased with him, accepted Islam, he had ten wives. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered him to keep four of them and leave the rest.
