Chapter: Prohibited marriages – Clarifying that the Prophet (peace be upon him) married Maymunah while both were not in ihram
Hadith 4130
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعٍ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ، وَخَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْبَزَّارُ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَطَرٌ الْوَرَّاقُ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَزَوَّجَ مَيْمُونَةَ حَلالا ، وَبَنَى بِهَا حَلالا ، وَكُنْتُ الرَّسُولَ بَيْنَهُمَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), at that time the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was not in the state of Ihram. When Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) was sent off (to the Prophet’s house), even then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was not in the state of Ihram, and I was performing the duties of messenger between the two.
