Chapter: Prohibited marriages – Forbidding marrying the younger over the elder or vice versa as described
Hadith 4118
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُنْكَحَ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا ، وَعَلَى خَالَتِهَا ، وَعَلَى بِنْتِ أَخِيهَا ، وَعَلَى بِنْتِ أُخْتِهَا ، وَنَهَى أَنْ تُنْكَحَ الْكُبْرَى عَلَى الصُّغْرَى ، وَالصُّغْرَى عَلَى الْكُبْرَى " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade marrying a woman together with her paternal aunt, or her maternal aunt, or her niece (brother’s daughter), or her niece (sister’s daughter). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also forbade marrying the younger (sister) together with the elder, or the elder together with the younger.
