Hadith 4081
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمْرٍو ذَكْوَانُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْبِكْرِ تَخْطُبُ ؟ ، فَقَالَتْ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تُسْتَأْمَرُ النِّسَاءُ فِي أَبْضَاعِهِنَّ " ، قَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، الْبِكْرُ تَسْتَحِي فَتَسْكُتُ ؟ ، قَالَ : " سُكُوتُهَا إِقْرَارُهَا " .
Abu Amr Dhakwan reports: Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) inquired about a virgin girl who receives a marriage proposal. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Women should be consulted regarding their marriage. Sayyida Aisha said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon you)! A virgin girl feels shy and remains silent (so what is the ruling in this case)? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Her silence is her consent.
