Prohibition of a woman asking a man to divorce her sister to take her place
Hadith 4068
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الطُّفَاوِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا ، وَلا عَلَى خَالَتِهَا ، وَلا تَسْأَلُ الْمَرْأَةُ طَلاقَ أُخْتِهَا لِتَكْتَفِئَ مَا فِي صَحْفَتِهَا ، فَإِنَّ لَهَا مَا كُتِبَ لَهَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A woman should not be married together with her paternal aunt or her maternal aunt (i.e., one should not marry a woman along with her niece), and no woman should demand the divorce of her sister (i.e., co-wife) so that she may obtain what is in her vessel, for she will only get what has been decreed for her."
