Hadith 4059
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَلَى جُلَيْبِيبٍ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ إِلَى أَبِيهَا ، قَالَ : حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ أُمَّهَا ، قَالَ : فَنَعَمْ إِذًا ، فَذَهَبَ إِلَى امْرَأَتِهِ ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهَا ، فَقَالَتْ : لا هَا اللَّهِ إِذًا ، وَقَدْ مَنَعْنَاهَا فُلانًا وَفُلانًا ، قَالَ : وَالْجَارِيَةُ فِي سِتْرِهَا تَسْمَعُ ، فَقَالَتِ الْجَارِيَةُ : أَتَرُدُّونَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهُ ، إِنْ كَانَ قَدْ رَضِيَهُ لَكُمْ فَأَنْكِحُوهُ ، قَالَ : فَكَأَنَّهَا حَلَّتْ عَنْ أَبَوَيْهَا ، فَقَالا : صَدَقْتِ ، فَذَهَبَ أَبُوهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنْ رَضِيتَهُ لَنَا رَضِينَاهُ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي أَرْضَاهُ فَزَوَّجَهَا ، فَفَزِعَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ ، وَخَرَجَتْ امرأة جُلَيْبِيبٍ فِيهَا ، فَوَجَدَتْ زَوْجَهَا وَقَدْ قُتِلَ ، وَتَحْتَهُ قَتْلَى مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَدْ قَتَلَهُمْ " قَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ : فَمَا رَأَيْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ثَيِّبًا أَنْفَقَ مِنْهَا .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a marriage proposal for Sayyiduna Julaibib to the father of an Ansari woman. The man said: I will consult the girl's mother. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Alright. That man went to his wife and mentioned this matter to her. The woman said: By Allah, no! This cannot happen. We had even refused proposals from so-and-so and so-and-so for this girl. The narrator says: The girl was listening to this conversation from behind a curtain. The girl said: Will you not accept the request of Allah's Messenger? If the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is pleased with this proposal, then marry me to him. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: It was as if the girl made things easy for her parents. They replied: You have spoken rightly. Then her father went to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: If you are pleased with this man, then we are also pleased with him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am pleased with him. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) married the girl to Sayyiduna Julaibib (may Allah be pleased with him). (After some time) the people of Madinah were struck with fear (i.e., there was a battle), and the wife of Sayyiduna Julaibib (may Allah be pleased with him) also went out. She found her husband in such a state that he had been martyred, and beneath him were some slain polytheists whom Sayyiduna Julaibib (may Allah be pleased with him) had killed. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I have not seen any widow in Madinah who spent more (in the way of Allah) than that woman.
